Many of the regulars were missing from the Mound Party Stand for yesterday's first one-day international (ODI), West Indies vs New Zealand Digicel ODI match. While the usual pulsating Appleton Mound did not have its usual manic fervour, those who went were determined to enjoy themselves, and so they did.

For every wicket that fell, the stand exploded, as New Zealand were restricted to 199 for nine, with Renaissance Disco providing the beat and media personality Kiki the entertainment.

The party continued throughout the day with the Appleton bars opened and staffed with persons willing to offer as much Appleton as you can drink.

For every run the WI scored there was explosion, and when Chris Gayle hit his first six you could dance with anybody as Jamaicans, New Zealanders, Trinidadians and even the occasional American enjoyed the mound for what it is - a party stand!
