WESTERN BUREAU:
Telecommunications company LIME presented mobile phones, free credit, a LIME Jamaica50 jacket, and a utility bag to eight members of World champion and Olympic 100m silver medallist Yohan Blake's family on Wednesday.
"We made this gesture to show appreciation for our athletes in general - and Yohan Blake, in particular - having risen to the top of world athletics. So as part our efforts, we decided to make this presentation to the Blake clan here," said Dexton McDonald, regional head of business services at LIME.
"They each received mobile phones, and this will go a far way in keeping them in touch with Yohan while he is overseas."
Thanking LIME, Blake's father, Shirley, expressed gratitude for the gifts that were presented at his Bogue Hill home in Montego Bay, St James.
"We are thankful for all these phones today, and we will use them to keep in touch with Yohan in London," the elder Blake said.
LIME signed a three-year sponsorship deal with the sprinter earlier this year.
