SANDY BAY, Hanover:

The Tryall Fund yesterday handed out more than $2 million in bursaries during its third annual scholarship awards ceremony at the Great House, The Tryall Club, in Hanover.

The awardees are chosen using criteria which include maintaining good grades.

For the 2012-2013 academic year, 28 scholarship recipients, ranging from secondary to tertiary level, were provided with the opportunity to develop their educational pursuits.

This year's initiative puts the fund closer to achieving its goal of awarding 50 scholarships annually beginning in 2013.

The Tryall Fund is a non-profit charitable organisation that has United States tax-exempt status and is developed and supported by Tryall staff and members.

The Tryall Fund seeks to improve the lives of children and families in the parish of Hanover through its education, health, and welfare projects. It is managed and operated solely by volunteers. As a result, every donation supports its goal of improving the lives of children and families.
