Kindred spirits, Brooke Lloyd

Brooke and Lloyd (aka Miguel) first met back in the summer of 2000. Brooke was introduced to Lloyd on the first day of her summer internship at Johnson & Johnson, New Jersey. Lloyd was a full-time employee at the time who was welcoming, charming and had a warm personality.

He and Brooke became friends instantly. A few years later, the friendship led to dating and now marriage! Brooke graduated from Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science degree in business economics and now works for a health-care advertising agency in New Jersey. Lloyd joined the Army National Guard and, in 2009, was deployed to Iraq. He currently works in New Jersey for a programme called Vets4Warriors, which is for veterans helping other veterans in need.

Brooke is the daughter of Michael and Valerie Sinclair and has Jamaican roots connected to Ethan Sinclair Esq and his wife, Carole Sinclair and The Right Reverend Dr Howard Gregory, who is the Anglican Bishop of Jamaica and the Cayman Islands, and his wife, Charmaine Gregory. Lloyd is the son of Lilieth Davis (aka Polly), from Garveymeade in Portmore. Lloyd was born in Kingston and last attended Bridgeport Primary School before he joined his mom in the United States at age six. Lloyd has one daughter, Layla Deans, and is planning to have more children with Brooke in the near future.

Handsome Couple

The fairy-tale wedding took place on May 26, 2012, at the historical St Thomas Church in New York City. The bride's dress was designed by the Ethiopian fashion designer Amsale. The groom's tuxedo was designed by Vera Wang. The handsome couple and all family members were limousine driven to the church, with paparazzi cameramen and women in true New York City style snapping pictures of the couple. The 10-party groomsmen and seven-party bridesmaids, accompanied by two flower girls and two ring-bearers, completed the wedding party. The wedding party included the best man Kirk Joseph, and groomsmen Kevin English, Craig Jackson, Tarik Brooks, Michael Andrew, Raheen Henry, Courtney Redd, Michael Sinclair, Terrence Royer and Chad Jones, and the maid of honour, Kate McGeary, and bridesmaids Jennifer Fung, Corinne Brown, Janine Beck, LaTanya Ford, Shantai Sinclair and Nina Highsmith. Brooke was escorted down the aisle by her father, Michael. Lloyd's mother, Lilieth, grandmother, Carmeta, Brooke's mother, Valerie, and grandfather, Charles Herndon, walked down the aisle as well. The wedding party truly depicted the theme of 'Out of Many One People' in keeping with their Jamaican roots, with the entire wedding party having someone from each ethnicity. The family members were particularly touched by the 'In Loving Memory of' section appearing on the couple's wedding leaflet, where deceased family members who have touched their lives were mentioned; for Lloyd, he listed his Uncle Keith Clarke and his grandfather, Louis Davis, both from Jamaica; for Brooke, her maternal grandmother, Eserene Gregory Herndon, born and raised in Jamaica, as well as her paternal grandfather Carlos Sinclair and cousin John Sinclair, both born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica.

Their beautiful reception was held at the breathtaking picturesque Waterside Restaurant and catering was on the New Jersey side on the Hudson River, with views of New York City and her famous buildings, landmarks and the harbour.

Lloyd and Brooke opened the dance floor with Michael Jackson's Baby, Be Mine followed by a dance with the bride and her father, who danced to Daddy by Beyoncé and a dance with Lloyd and his mom, who danced to Mama by Boys II Men. The couple honeymooned in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, and is planning to have a second honeymoon in Jamaica next year.

The couple is off to an excellent start with family members and friends who jetted into New York from all over the world to witness the historic day in the couple's life.
