Man beaten for 'strange questions'

WESTERN BUREAU:A St James man, who allegedly attacked another man because of reported harassment over a two-year period, is to be sentenced when he returns to the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court in February.

Twenty-one-year-old Dwayne Forbes, of a Mount Salem address in Montego Bay, pleaded guilty with explanation to unlawful wounding against Michael Clarke when he appeared in court on December 17.

Reports are that on November 24, Forbes attacked and injured Clarke during a dispute. The nature of Clarke's injuries was not outlined to the court.

In explaining the attack, Forbes told Resident Magistrate Sandria Wong-Small that the complainant, who was not present in court, had been repeatedly harassing him with questionable conversations since 2010.

"For two years, this man (Clarke) was harassing me, and I don't really understand how someone like him can find so much interest in me," said Forbes.

"I do not understand that, sir," replied Wong-Small.

"Every time Clarke sees me, he puts all sorts of strange questions to me. I wanted him to stop harassing me, and I recently found out his motives," continued Forbes, although he did not elaborate further on his statement.

Wong-Small ordered that a social enquiry report be prepared to assist in determining Forbes's sentence, and set the case for February 18, 2013.

"When you leave here today, you are to go up to the probation office," the magistrate told Forbes. "I am also ordering a social enquiry report to be made," she added.
