Western Bureau:The St James Parish Development Committee has benefited from the RBC Royal Bank Children's Mental Health Programme after they received a gift of $100,000 towards their Child Protection Committee Project for vulnerable children.

The St James PDC, which emerged from a recommendation from the Local Government Reform programme, has seen the need to assist vulnerable children, including those at risk for suicide and depression.

The Child Protection Committee Project, which is designed to run for a four-month period, will commence with a sensitisation workshop on January 17 at the Montego Bay Civic Centre in Sam Sharpe Square, in Montego Bay.

In explaining the reason behind the decision by the RBC Royal Bank to support the project, Cathay McDonald-Reid, branch manager, RBC Royal Bank, Montego Bay explained that the selection was done because it had to do with children with mental health problems.

McDonald-Reid further noted that her company would like to be involved in other projects like the Child Protection Committee Project.
