Oh, what a night! BCIC celebrates its Golden Anniversary

Mona Visitors' Lodge was transformed into a multi-level network of lounges, food stations and a high-energy party area in celebration of the British Caribbean Insurance Company (BCIC) 50th anniversary.

BCIC, which was incorporated in 1962 as a general insurance company, invited more than 400 of its staff, board of directors, retirees, partners and clients for a lavish evening celebration on January 17, emceed by Paula-Ann Porter-Jones. Peter D. Levy, managing director of BCIC, hosted the festivities and paid tribute to the "most motivated, engaged, and dedicated team in the insurance industry". He also celebrated the company's 18 per cent growth in premiums in its 50th year, crossing the $3-billion mark for the first time, declaring that revenue milestone as an "inspiration for continued excellence".

Minister without portfolio in the Ministry of Finance Horace Dalley lauded the company on the introduction of its most recent product innovation, 'Diamond Max', a motor-insurance product for drivers 60 years and older. He cited statistics which indicate that the senior population, "65 years and older is the fastest growing segment" in Jamaica's population. Dalley invited BCIC board chairman Joseph M. Matalon and Peter D. Levy to toast the company's 50 years of success.
