MoBay Nite Out continues to do well

WESTERN BUREAU:
Despite the country's challenging economic situation, corporate sponsors and local businesses have continued to support an effort by the St James Parish Council to stimulate commercial and entertainment activities along Montego Bay's famed Hip Strip.
"We are trying to keep the interest each month, and we had Macka (Diamond) in March, and Khago in February. So for April, we want to continue to offer something different. The soca theme was in line with the carnival season, so there's always something new at MoBay Nite Out," Mayor of Montego Bay Glendon Harris said.
MoBay Nite Out is a monthly entertainment and commercial activity held on the 25th of each month in a bid to re-establish the famous Gloucester Avenue (Hip Strip) in Montego Bay as the entertainment hub of the resort town. The event runs from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. and traffic is restricted to a single lane along the strip, flowing from the direction of the Summit Police Station to the Aqua Sol Beach.
Harris extended his gratitude to the patrons, businesses, and sponsors who continue to support the collective effort that will add value to the city's entertainment scene.
"Our sponsors, patrons - and everyone who ensures this takes place on the 25th of each month - continue to rally behind the concept. We are heading into our fifth one, and we expect the momentum to continue," he said.
STILL ABLE TO THRILL
Dancehall artiste Macka Diamond and soca veteran Cindy Lewis ruled the stage in March to the delight of many locals and tourists who gathered at the Old Hospital Park.
Dubbed the Soca Edition, the Money O entertainer and author Macka Diamond showcased that she still has what it takes to thrill a crowd and get them involved in her performance. Showing no signs of slowing down, Macka made patrons aware that her age has not influenced her ability to perform, and she demonstrated just that during her 20-minute set at the event.
Soca star Cindy Lewis gave patrons an authentic bacchanal experience that the town has not seen for quite some time. With her consistent high-energy performance, patrons were under her spell as they mirrored her every move and made the performance engaging.
