Pointers on publishing: Take the challenge!
Corine La Font, Contributor
Can you believe it? We're almost half the year and it's that time when some of us start preparing to get our summer bodies ready to go to the beach and enjoy outdoor activities. Well, in just the same way, you are planning to prepare the physical body, I thought to myself; why not prepare your body of work - your intellectual property, your book, for some workout as well to see the results you will get.
Just like any fitness guru will say, three months of consistent effort should start revealing results. Let's apply that same principle to get your book out there ready for the summer, looking all sharp and ready for the buying eyes.
To demonstrate my commitment, I am, therefore, dedicating myself for 12 weeks of sharing what I know FREE of charge starting May 1- July 31. There is a catch though:
1 You must have written a book and are desirous and committed to building your visibility. Aspiring authors are welcome, as they will learn and may be motivated to get their book started earlier than planned;
2 You must be willing to share your results (good, bad or indifferent) when you apply what is suggested which includes screenshots, data, comments, reviews etc;
3 You must provide feedback and be interactive within the group;
4 You must follow through on what is suggested, even though you may not know what to do but you have a responsibility to lean on your fellow peers and members to figure out what is needed;
5 You must be open to constructive criticism from fellow members whose only interest would be to help you grow, learn and flourish.
Are you up to the challenge?
A closed Facebook Group has been created. To participate, you need to register using this link. Upon clicking the submit button, you will be automatically redirected to the closed Facebook group page where you will see a button that says 'ask to join'. Click on that and upon receipt, I will approve you in the closed Facebook group: http://bit.ly/10daDvG
This is what you are up for. At the beginning of each week, I will post a new activity that you will apply during the week. You are responsible for following through, meticulously tracking the results and sharing with the group.
As I mentioned before, you might be given an activity that is unfamiliar to you and I will be there to offer advice but the aim is to help you to get involved and do some things on your own as well as with a team. The best part is opening up yourself to learning from others, learning new ways and building that confidence within yourself that you can do it!
During the 12 weeks, I may change the approach based on the level of output from the members and results received, so don't be surprised when I throw a curve ball. It's all part of the dynamics of book marketing, and you have to be prepared for this.
At the end of each four-week period, I will extend an invitation to all members of the challenge to be guests on my radio show to share what they learned and what they took away from the experience in addition to their next steps.
So are you ready to change the results you are getting now, from the lack of book-marketing effort? Then you need to take the challenge! I anticipate seeing all of you in the Facebook Group. Remember, we officially start May 1, but there's nothing stopping you from registering early to interact and get to know each other before the challenge commences.
