WESTERN BUREAU:With additional sponsors and a different venue, the KoKo Beenz fashion show, slated for Saturday, May 11, at Donway Village in Montego Bay, is expected to sizzle.

The event is to be staged for the second time by local fashion designer and organiser Ann Marie Robinson-Chin.

"I want to showcase the KoKo Beenz clothing line brand in an innovative yet exciting way. The support for the clothing line has been great, and I want to showcase our new designs in a way patrons will never forget," Robinson-Chin said.

Robinson-Chin said KoKo Beenz grew from a fashion accessory store into a clothing line, and the client support continues to grow the brand in Jamaica and the Caribbean.

The KoKo Beenz brand was incorporated in 2003, but the operation has been around since 1998.

"As a Jamaican fashion designer, I believe the industry has evolved in many positive ways for local designers, and while more can be done to advance this industry, the responsibility is also on designers to find creative ways to get their brand out there, and the KoKo Beenz Fashion red-carpet event hopes to create more brand awareness," she said.

The successful staging of the event last year prompted Robinson-Chin to consider making the event an annual fashion showcase of her clothing line with the partnership with of sponsors who have supported the venture.

"We have ATL Automotive, Marguerites, Rainforest, CPJ, Margaritaville, On Stage and Di Foto Shoppe, among others, on-board. We intend to provide a spectacular show. Sponsors pay a crucial role in what I hope to bring to the patrons, so I want to encourage persons to come out and support the event," the fashion designer said.
