Tuesday talk
Bad health news
1. Grim news is emanating from our public hospitals where it is said that even simple medical supplies are in short supply. Things are so bad at some institutions that doctors have had to telephone colleagues to beg a few syringes.
Take it or leave it!
2. This is a demonstration of how a board ought not to be run. Members were reportedly fuming when they heard the announcement about a high-profile appointment about which they knew nothing. It emerged that the appointment or anointment (depending on how you want to look at it) was made by the man in charge. Clearly, since the board serves at his behest ,there is nothing they can do. Or is there? Of course, they could resign.
PM's 'flavour of the month'
3. Many people are trying to understand how the prime minister decides who should be in charge of government affairs when she is not on the island. The position has been tossed around between some key ministers. However, in the absence of a deputy, the choice seems to surround the personality adjudged to be the 'flavour of the month'.
Where's the football shake-up?
4. Nationalism aside, there are many who feel that the Reggae Boyz are really not World Cup material at the moment. Even though
the population is willing them to qualify, some believe the results from Rio would be extremely devastating. From all that has transpired over the last few months, it seems that football administration is in need of a strong shake-up.
