Mediation ordered for man who tossed out girlfriend's clothes
WESTERN BUREAU:A St James man, who reportedly threw his girlfriend's clothes into a pit, was ordered to attend mediation sessions with the complainant when he appeared in the Montego Bay Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
Adrian Gunn, who is of a Montego Bay address, and who is charged for malicious destruction of property, was previously before the court on August 7. The case will be mentioned on October 4 when a report from the mediation sessions is expected to be presented to the court.
Although the details of the allegations were outlined, Gunn had previously told the court that the complainant, Sashanique Campbell, had simply not taken up her clothes.
"I just threw them outside and she never took them up. My sister took them up the same day," Gunn had said previously.
On Tuesday, Clerk of the Court Orrett Brown told Resident Magistrate Vivienne Harris that mediation could be attempted to settle the dispute between Gunn and Campbell.
"The complainant is minded to try mediation," said Brown.
"Mr Gunn, would you like to try mediation? If it is not successful, the matter will come back for trial," Harris said to the defendant.
"No, Your Honour, I just want the matter to finish," said Gunn.
"The complainant says to go to mediation with her. If you want the matter to finish, you go to mediation with her," Harris said sternly before setting the case for mention on October 4.
