Curly-Centric Jamaica to host Montego Bay's first natural-hair event
Natural-hair advocates Curly-Centric Jamaica will stage its first natural-hair meet-up in Montego Bay at the Wexford Court Hotel today at 4 p.m.
According to co-founder of the organisation, Trudy-Ann Hylton, the event will feature, among other things, the styling of natural hair, talks on natural-hair care, and a natural-hair care showcase.
Curly-Centric Jamaica was founded in February 2012 with a mission to empower women to embrace their hair in its natural state.
"After hosting a teaser at the Fontana Pharmacy in July, the group has decided to continue efforts to extend its reach across the island and host its first natural-hair event in the Second City of Montego Bay," Hylton said.
She said the event is targeted at women who wear their hair in its natural state, those thinking of transitioning back to their natural roots, as well as parents and guardians who wish to learn more about caring for the hair of their children.
She said there is a small admission fee for adults but that children would be admitted free of cost. In addition, all attendees will receive a free package, including samples of all the products in the Softsheen-Carson Au Naturale line.
