Hottest topics on the cocktail circuit

Board appointments

1.  There are some people who serve on boards because they think they have great ideas and are genuinely interested in helping to move an organisation along. However, there are some persons who actively search for opportunities to advance themselves using board resources. This should stop, starting with government boards.

Upside down

2. Some people are saying they can't imagine that the party would now be embracing the sleazy one who played such a huge role in turning things upside down for them. One supporter has boldly called for his exclusion from all committees, but he is well ensconced at the moment.

Growing weary

3. It seems there is a definite plan to ease the man out of the job. However, he has cleverly and skillfully outmanoeuvred his detractors every time they make a move. The designated one waiting in the wings is said to be growing weary and is now so turned off that he has started examining other options.

Appropriate action

4. History has proven that whenever a problem is allowed to fester without appropriate corrective action, it can become chronic. For example, if a worker threatens a colleague with a gun, appropriate action should be taken against that individual, for, left unattended, it could escalate into something really big. And now it has happened.
