NCB touts the lasting legacy of its pensioners

"Long after everything fades, it is your influence, your relationships and your impact on people that will become your legacy," said Group Managing Director, Patrick Hylton, as he addressed the audience at the annual National Commercial Bank (NCB) pensioners luncheon.

Hylton took the opportunity to share his five-point reflections on legacy: "Treat people with dignity at all times. Acknowledge tough decisions - never sugar-coat difficult truths. Celebrate the past, celebrate progress, and make persistence a key aspect of our culture. Require and expect excellence, but always practise fairness. Nurture strength in people".

Held recently at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel, the afternoon's programme was guided under the comedic auspices of Christopher 'Johnny' Daley, who interspersed the programme with humorous Jamaican recollections.

Pensioners from the various periods of the bank's history gathered from near and far to reminisce, mingle, and celebrate at the annual function. Addressing the pensioners, Rickert Allen, senior general manager, Group Human Resources Division, said: "Whether you joined us when we were called Barclays Bank or Mutual Security Bank or NCB, you are an indelible part of the legacy of the National Commercial Bank Jamaica Limited. Your contribution is invaluable; we could not be here without your hard work and fortitude over the years."

Putting your best life forward

"NCB wants to encourage you to put your best life forward, even in your retirement," Allen said. He charged the attendees to, "continue to make prudent decisions and plan in a manner that will provide you with the most rewarding outcomes. NCB will continue to provide the necessary support".

The pensioners were updated on the activities of the organisation, which included challenges during the period as well as the new and exciting initiatives that the bank is currently undertaking, such as the 'Bank on the Go' initiative. This initiative is aimed at improving customer experience within the banking halls by providing alternate electronic channels that allow them to save money and time.

NCB has a vibrant pensioners' association with an active membership.
