WESTERN BUREAU:

Assassins and Tropical Riddim will meet in the January 26 final of the J. Wray and Nephew Western Domino League after posting comprehensive victories in the semi-finals last Sunday.

Assassins led by 13 points at the half and proved to be too strong for Strike Force, who battled all the way but ended a decisive 35 points short as Assassins won 300-265.

Their opponents in the final, Tropical Riddim, led by as many as 11 before disposing of the high-flying B-52 Bomb Squad by 29 points, winning 300-271 in an exciting semi-final matchup.

"It was a great round of domino as Strike Force actually looked the favourites entering the match, but the Assassins team is extremely dangerous and they took it to them, coming away with a big win to be in the final," said league director Walford Morgriege.

"I have no doubt that Tropical Riddim will be up for this final," added Morgriege. "They are worthy finalists, proving their worth in a comprehensive win over Bomb Squad, and so the fans are awaiting another keen contest between them."

ANOTHER HUMDINGER ON THE HORIZON

The two met twice in the preliminary stages of the competition, with the teams splitting victories, and Morgriege believes the final will be yet another humdinger.

"The respective fans are all waiting for this. They have shared wins against each other in the regular season and another close and exciting matchup is anticipated," said Morgriege.

The Division One final will be played between Dynasty and Intouch on January 26.

Dynasty got the better of Top Class 300-283 after jumping into a 22-point half-time lead to secure their place in the final. Intouch, meanwhile, were comfortable 300-251 winners in their semi-final, crushing Uptown by 49 points.

The Division Two final between Western Stars and Hawkeye Stingers will also be played on the same day at Karibatic in Falmouth, Trelawny.
