'Leaders in Service' fêted

Caterers, chefs, destination-management companies and event planners from the food and service industry were recognised for their outstanding contribution by Caribbean Producers Jamaica and Blue Beat on Wednesday night in Montego Bay.
A total of 50 'Leaders in Service' were feted by the two organisations, CPJ hoped to take food and wine to the next level, while Blue Beat showcased the impact that great people, food and wine can have.
As the company with the largest wine portfolio on the island, CPJ explained that the aim of the event was to better educate its partners on what wines best suit their industry.
The company broke down its offering into three tiers throughout Blue Beat, showing value wines, premium wines and sparkling wines.
"The value products that we showed our partners this evening are great-tasting wines that are entry-level pricing, but premium quality. Wines such as Frontera and Trapiche," noted Michael Turner, brand manager, wines.
Renowned wines
He had on display, and for tasting, wines which are varietally and regionally renowned, such as a cabernet from Chile, tagged, Casillero Del Diablo, and a new HobNob - Wicked Red, a French red blend exclusively launched at the event.
Organised by wine brands associate, Natalie Spence, the other wines on the impressive list included the Fetzer Riesling from California, "a sustainably produced wine, which is eco-friendly", boasted Spence.
For those into sparkling wines, which Turner said many Jamaicans are, "we wanted to showcase our festive wines, most notably Fresita, the perfect Valentine's wine".
Fused with natural strawberries, it is dubbed the perfect gift.
