Seprod subsidiary, Serge Island Dairies, Jamaica's largest milk producer, has made Jamaican Olympian Warren Weir, 24, its brand ambassador. The announcement was appropriately made at the National Stadium on Wednesday. Also, in excess of J$20 million will be invested by the company into the popular inter-primary and inter-prep school track and field championships.

Seprod chairman, P.B. Scott, said that the investment, "was critical at this time given the serious challenges faced in sustaining these very important sports programmes that are key to health-focused youth development. Beyond that, it is important that we inform the wider populace about the need for a balanced nutrition utilising high-quality local milk at affordable prices. It is a win-win."

Matthew Samuda, marketing manager for Seprod's exclusive distributor, Facey Commodity, said, "Serge Island is intent on promoting youth sports development, healthy nutrition, and buying Jamaican products. Therefore, taking on a prominent and young Jamaican athlete will only result in reinforcing our commitment to building Jamaica. Everyone will be excited about who we have on board."
