Spice up with cinnamon

Cinnamon may be known for its zing, but it can keep your blood sugar levels steady - even after a breakfast of fast-acting carbs, a recent study found. Scientists have concluded that the cinnamon extract seemed to have a moderate effect in reducing blood sugar levels in diabetes patients, especially among those who had more trouble controlling blood sugar. That means fewer blood-glucose spikes and plunges, which can cause those 'I'm starving!' moments. Study volunteers added two and a half teaspoons of the spice to their morning meal, but sprinkles throughout the day very likely will work, too. So sprinkle some cinnamon over your favourites, such as coffee, yogurt, cereal, and tea.
