The historic Devon House complex now has a new hotspot - it's the Mahogany Tree Bar, operated by the owners of the Grog Shoppe on its doorstep. It makes for the perfect segue from dinner at the Grog Shoppe Restaurant to drinks and vice versa. The concept design for the spacious and beautiful ambience and decor was conceptualised and executed by the owners, Tino Caldarelli and Gloria Palomino.

With benches and stools in bold stripes, the bar can accommodate up to 250 patrons in cosy nooks, at the bar or in private clusters under the branches of the mahogany tree for which it is named.

atmosphere

Subtle background music gives patrons the opportunity to engage each other in conversation and be heard, or take in the news and sports on the television set at the bar. It's the kind of place that could easily grow on persons who love a relaxed outdoor atmosphere.

Already regulars are asking for stamp-and-go (fritters) or sprat with bread - two of the signature nibbles with a wide array of liquid libations, chief among them the infamous Devon Duppy. And to celebrate this legendary drink, theme nights are coming with a full-moon event that promises to take patrons down a memory lane of scary tales and cultural delights.

There are also plans for happy hour and other special treats, plus fun and games Jamaicans love to play, but all the plans will be announced in due course. Opening hours are Monday to Thursday from 11.a.m. to midnight and Friday and Saturday up to 2 a.m. Patrons can relax and enjoy themselves as parking is secure and the entire complex is manned by security guards.
