Ryme Minista to rock album launch

WESTERN BUREAU:Montego Bay deejay Ryme Minista says his fans can expect him to ignite the Mandela Green Entertainment Centre in Green Island, Hanover, when he performs tonight at the Rock Top reggae band's album launch.

"My fans can expect a mad, mad move," the deejay told Western Focus on Wednesday. "The whole of that side (Green Island) is like my veranda. It's like a part of my house.

"A 'shell' me a go 'shell it', like peanut, like seashell," he quipped.

The deejay, who recently celebrated his 29th birthday, is known for songs, including Mad Mad Move, Shub Out, Push Forward, One Umbrella, Killaz and Killaz, and a collaboration with Mavado titled Kill and Get Weh.

"Kill and Get Weh show seh Ryme Minista deh pon di rise because to do a combination with Mavado, it is not so easy," he said, adding that he would be at the venue hours before his performance to show his support to Rock Top members, who are also from Montego Bay.

Lyrically potent

A past student of the Knockalva Technical High School in Hanover, Ryme Minista is from Glendevon in Montego Bay and is hailed as one of the most lyrically potent artistes to emerge from western Jamaica.

Ryme Minista's performance will be preceded by the launch of Rock Top's 13 track debut album, Feel Like I Wanna Go Home.

The songs on the album were written by a team of five, including Raphi, his brother Itangi, his sister Sarah, Iauwata, and Ralston Baker. It features songs such as Mama, Hail Rastafari, Gimme Some, Differently, Don't Want to See Man Rise, Feel Like I Wanna Go Home, and others. Music fans will get to see the 13 members of the band, including lead singers Itangible and Raphiel, live in concert, as well as their 15-year-old brother, Icassa, playing drums on all 13 tracks.

Alkaline, Wayne Jay, Rasta Village, and Major Lloyd, as well as a slew of upcoming artistes, are also billed for the show. Emcees are Ron Muschette and Alan Ranks.
