The American Chamber of Commerce of Jamaica (AMCHAM Jamaica), has passed the 200-member mark for the first time in its 28-year history.

The historic achievement occurred last Wednesday as the organisation, in conjunction with ADS Global, formally launched their international AMCHAM Rewards programme, detailed their planned visit to Colombia this week, and announced their new push to bring on board more micro-, small- and medium-size enterprises in Jamaica as members.

The launch took place at the CRU Bar and Lounge on Lady Musgrave Road, with scores of new and existing AMCHAM members, corporate leaders, and diplomats in attendance.

Guests were given details about Amchamrewards.com, which is a benefits, lifestyle and savings platform that is tailor-made for the American Chambers of Commerce throughout the Caribbean and Latin America. The programme will offer members a network of services and products with significant savings developed for business people throughout the region.

Ron McKay, vice-president of AMCHAM Jamaica and chief executive officer of ADS Global, noted, "Because of the hard times, people are looking for more value from their membership in professional organisations and trade associations. So, when our team created AMCHAM Rewards, I urged them to focus on producing everyday savings for businesses that would also offer additional benefits for members in Jamaica and the world."

With reference to the AMCHAM Rewards programme, Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Alliance president, Donovan Wignall, noted that the programme is another valuable item being added to the list of offerings to improve the sustainable growth of MSMEs. We look forward to a future partnership with AMCHAM."

AMCHAM Jamaica visited its Colombian counterparts to bring their membership base on board the rewards platform. McKay said the Jamaican team will visit AMCHAM Colombia teams in several of their major cities, including Bogotá, Medellín, Cartagena, and Cali. "We will then travel to Panama in July to participate in the Business Future of the Americas conference being put on by the Association of American Chambers of Commerce in Latin America, which comprises 23 AMCHAMs boasting 20,000 companies and more than 80 per cent of US investment in the region."
