Paymaster promises rewards, insurance

Paymaster Jamaica Limited, the island's first 'one-stop shop' multi-payment agency, launched yet another first on Tuesday, July 29, The Paymaster Loyalty Rewards Programme.
The programme offers earnings of more than JA$1.5 million in benefits and rewards to loyal Paymaster customers. Paymaster has again distinguished itself as innovative, cutting-edge and forward-thinking, offering free benefit insurance to customers.
The Paymaster Shield covers critical illness and death, providing a lump-sum payout, in the event of being diagnosed with any of the covered illnesses including, heart attack, stroke, cancer, paralysis, major burns, blindness, coma, deafness, loss of speech and multiple sclerosis.
Customers become eligible for this and other benefits after paying three or more bills at any Paymaster location, islandwide, for three consecutive months. On completion of a full membership form and customers qualifying as members, they will receive the free Paymaster Shield Insurance for $150,000 with the ability to upgrade the coverage up to a total of $1,000,000.
No access to insurance
According to Ambassador Audrey Marks, chairman and CEO, Paymaster Jamaica Limited, the company is aware of the reality that as much as 65 per cent of Jamaicans have no access to insurance benefits. Paymaster, she said, is pleased to bring this opportunity to such a large number of persons.
"This number of persons who have no health insurance is quite disturbing so we are intervening, through support for a health initiative to ensure that, by paying those bills by the due date, at least 60 per cent of our customers would be getting help with their medical eventualities," Marks said.
"Private health care is increasingly expensive and out of the reach of many Jamaicans. Paymaster, in its interactions with its customer base, has witnessed the effects of the ongoing recession on its customers," she said. "We recognise that many times our customers will skew their budgets to pay for those things which seem more immediate - pay the light bill or face disconnection, while neglecting their health concerns and scheduling them for an unknown period."
Marks said Paymaster sees the Paymaster Shield Insurance as a supplement to the Government's policy of free health care and recognises that, despite the best efforts through the public health system, waiting times are growing for appointments for life-saving treatments, operations and procedures.
"Many illnesses won't wait to be treated or cured before becoming fatal. Therefore, at the forefront is our critical illness plan whereby our loyalty customers will be enrolled under our group-life programme," Marks said. "Through this programme, we will provide for our customers an option which will enable them to access private health-care facilities when diagnosed with a number of dreaded critical illnesses."
No medical is required and the programme also seeks to target small-business employees, the underemployed and unemployed Jamaicans.
Point-based system
In addition, the loyalty-rewards programme offers an accumulated-point reward system and merchant discount purchases. As a qualified member with points to spend, customers can buy a wide range of products and services online, or in store, using their rewards points.
When customers become qualified members they will unlock hidden features in their account including island-wide benefits and discounts in hundreds of stores and websites, worldwide discounts on travel, hotels and car hire worldwide, purchases in the online store including everything from smart phones, laptops to vacation travel destinations and more.
Paymaster locations offer extended opening hours, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with the ability to do real time updates to client companies after payments are made. All payments are updated on the same day. Payments can also be made online at www.paymaster-online.net.
