Police intensify investigations into JUTC fire

Transport and Works Minister, Mike Henry asked the police to intensify their investigation into the fire which destroyed four buses at the Jamaica Urban Transit Company’s (JUTC) Portmore depot in St. Catherine on Saturday night.



The Ministry said its internal investigations have pointed to a number of questionable circumstances surrounding the fire.



It said the investigations ruled out mechanical or other routine operational failures, based on the cause of the blaze.



There are reports that an articulated bus was used to crash into another bus at the depot, around the time the fire started.



The ministry estimated the loss at $30 million.
