Kern to remain an MP

A meeting between PNP hierarchy and the executive of the North East St. Elizabeth constituency ended yesterday with all indications that Kern Spencer would remain as member of Parliament.



The meeting, which was held at the Santa Cruz primary, involved PNP Chairman, Robert Pickersgill, Region Five Chairman, Michael Peart and former Junior Energy Minister, Kern Spencer.



The meeting was expected to address concerns by the party, following charges laid against Mr. Spencer in connection with the Cuban light bulb distribution project.



It is reported that more than 100 supporters waited outside the school to hear the fate of their MP, they cheered when they heard that their MP would not be resigning.



Mr. Spencer and his two co-accused Rodney Chin and Colleen Wright are to return to court on March 26.
