JTA education conference begins
The annual education conference of the Jamaica Teachers Association (JTA) gets under way in Ocho Rios, St. Ann today.
The three-day conference is being held under the theme “understanding and catering to diversity in the classroom.”
President of the JTA, Ena Barclay said among the objectives of the conference is to create a forum for the presentation of relevant data on challenges to learning in Jamaican classrooms.
The conference will include presentations, panel discussions and practical workshops, which are aimed at dealing with some of the learning needs of students.
It will also look at the challenges of the present classroom environment and strategies and approaches to deal with them.
Teachers, lecturers, education officers, counsellors, and other key players in education are expected to participate in the conference.
Education minister, Andrew Minister is to deliver the main address at the opening ceremony.
