A settlement has been reached between the Jamaica Urban Transit Company (JUTC), and several taxi and bus operators in the corporate area regarding the recent proposed increase in sub-franchise fees.
The operators who are members of the National Association of Taxi Operators (NATO) withdrew their service in February over the proposed rates.
They were reportedly being asked to pay up to $75,000 for the fees, while the bus operators are being charged nearly $200,000.
President of the Waltham Park Taxi Association, Pearnel LaTouche said a settlement was reached during Monday’s meeting with representatives from the JUTC, the taxi association and the Transport Ministry.
