Corrupt policemen held

Investigators from the Anti Corruption Branch have arrested two more of their colleagues who are alleged to have breached the Anti Corruption Act.



The police said one of the men who is a member of the Island Special Constabulary Force (ISCF) was held during a sting operation in May Pen Clarendon yesterday.



Head of the Major Investigations Task Force, Assistant Commissioner of Police Justin Felice said the special constable was arrested as he attempted to extort money from a civilian.



ACP Felice said a Hanover policeman who was wanted for breaching the Anti Corruption Act was also caught yesterday.



The policeman, whose name has not been released, was being sought after the Lucea police held one of his colleagues.



The constable is one of two policemen who are alleged to have collected $50,000 from a Hanover man.



It is reported that the policemen went to the man’s home and told him he was wanted on drug related charges.



The police said while the constables were transporting the man to the police station, they told the man they would drop the charges if $200,000 was paid over to them.



The man reportedly paid the policemen $50,000.



One of the constables was held on Saturday, after the man pointed him out to the Lucea police.
