The transport ministry is to take a recommendation for an increase in taxi and bus fare to the cabinet on Monday.
This follows a review by the transport ministry on recommendations from the Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR).
OUR carried out consultations in response to a request for fare increases within the public transportation sector.
Transport Minister, Mike Henry along with a technical team from his ministry, undertook the review.
Decisions taken following the review are to be presented to the cabinet for deliberation.
The ministry said it hopes to make a decision on the new fare structure by the end of the month.
Taxi and bus operators are seeking to have the government grant them a 60 percent increase.
