Work permit fees increased
The Labour Ministry has announced increased fees for its work permit programme.
The new fee structure will take effect on Monday 28 April 2008.
The ministry says a non-refundable fee of $14,000 will be charged for each application to grant a work permit.
It will now cost $7,200 dollars to replace a lost, stolen or destroyed work permit identification card.
Work permits, which have been granted for a period of three months, will attract a fee of $27,000 while those between three and six months will cost $54,000.
It will now cost $81,000 for a six to nine months work permit and $108,000 for a permit up to one year.
The ministry says work permits for any period more than one year will attract a fee of $108,000 for the first 12 months and $27,000 dollars for each three-month period thereafter.
