Farmers to get cheaper fertilisers

The Jamaica All-Island Cane Farmers Association said it would be seeking to source cheaper fertiliser from overseas in light of the recent increases in the local product.

Chairman of the Association, Allan Rickards said a New York based company has been selected to provide a cheaper blend of fertilisers.

He said the Agriculture Ministry and the Bureau of Standards have already approved the product.

Mr Rickards said the shipment, which is due in May, is substantially cheaper than that supplied by local fertiliser manufacturer, Newport Fersan.
