Teen charged for illegal gun
The St. Thomas police have charged a teenage boy who was held with an illegal gun at a school in the parish yesterday.
The 16 year old boy has been charged with illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition.
The boy is one of two who were held by the police on the school compound.
The police said around 12.30 p.m. yesterday afternoon, a police operation was carried out in Yallahs and surrounding areas.
During the operation, two male students were seen on a school compound acting in a suspicious manner.
According to the police, the boys were accosted and searched and a pistol containing 15 cartridges found in their possession.
They were taken to the police station and questioned. One of the teens was subsequently charged.
A shotgun with five cartridges was found in a separate incident at Paradise Lane in the parish.
No arrest was made in connection with that find.
