Overseas-based company donates millions to health ministry

The Canada based Destiny Foundation yesterday donated approximately US$1 million worth of drugs to the health ministry to be distributed to health facilities islandwide.



The donation includes a large quantity of anti-retro viral drugs to assist the ministry in dealing with the country’s HIV/AIDS problem.



Chairman of Destiny Foundation, David Singh, said yesterday’s donation represents part of the foundation’s committment in 2004 to give US$10 million in assistance to Jamaica.



He said so far Jamaica has received US$4 million worth of assistance.



Mr. Singh said the foundation is looking at a number of areas of concern in which the remaining US$6 million can be channeled over the next two years.
