Police meet August Town residents
Members of the police high command are to meet with residents of the troubled August Town community in St. Andrew today.
The meeting, which is schedule for 4 p.m., is aimed at building a closer relationship between the police and residents.
The meeting will also seek to identify some of the issues affecting residents and look at ways in which the police can work with the communities to address some of the concerns.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Mark Shields and Senior Superintendent of Police, George Quallo are among the police personnel who will be leading today’s meeting.
Several community peacemakers and members of the business community are also expected to attend.
SSP Quallo said today’s meeting is the first of several, which is expected to be held within the August Town area.
The August Town community has seen an increase in violence over recent weeks.
