Escapee still alive

The police said one of three men who were shot dead by members of the Flying Squad on Queen Hill Drive, St Andrew on Saturday was not an escapee as was previously reported.



The men were killed during an alleged shoot-out with the police.



Two of the three men have been identified as Wayne ‘Waynie Bones’ Dawson, 39, and Michael ‘Tipper Lee’ Gayle, 27.



The police had wrongly identified the third man as Omar Campbell, 29, who had escaped with Dawson and Gayle form the Horizon Remand Centre on April 11.



They said Campbell, who is serving time for unlawful wounding, robbery with aggravation, illegal possession of a firearm, and wounding with intent is still being sought by the police.



The police are still to identify the third man killed on Saturday.
