Road closure in St. Mary

The National Works Agency (NWA) has closed a section of the Border to Cuffy main road in St. Mary.



Communication Manager at NWA, Stephen Shaw, said the road was closed to vehicular traffic yesterday after a section of the roadway at Platfield collapsed during heavy rains in the parish.



He said the road would remain closed until restoration work is done.



Mr. Shaw said the alternative route for motorists travelling from Platfield towards Lawrence Tavern is through Mount Charles.



He said motorists travelling from Border to Platfield are being asked to turn right at Border, through Seaton and into Montreal.



Mr. Shaw said the total cut off at Platfield is an exacerbation of a major breakaway, which had occurred there last year.
