The National Works Agency (NWA) has extended the period of closure of the Johnson River Bridge in Seaforth, St. Thomas for large vehicles.
Small vehicles are being allowed access, but the NWA said the bridge will remain closed to trucks and articulated vehicles for the next six months.
The alternative route is from Belvedere to Hall Head.
The NWA is working to replace the old bridge at Seaforth, as part of the US$45 million bridge programme.
Mr. Shaw said the new structure is expected to be available for use by all motorists by October 2008.
