Jephthah Ford in court

Dr. Jephthah Ford who is facing charges of illegal possession of firearm and assault at common law is scheduled to appear in the Gun Court today.
The case was put off until today and Dr. Ford\'s bail extended when he appeared in court yesterday.
It is being alleged that the charges against Dr. Ford stemmed from a dispute between him and the police on the early morning of April 9 last year at a function at Fun Citi in Portmore, St. Catherine.
Dr. Ford is contending that during the incident he was severely beaten by the police.
