Minister of Industry, Investment and Commerce, Karl Samuda has revoked the licence of one scrap metal dealer for breaches of the Scrap Metal Regulations.

Wilbert Castro, operator of Images Design and Recycling located at 24 King Street, Linstead was arrested and charged on April 5 with receiving stolen property.

It is alleged that he stole about 433 pounds of copper wire owned by Cable and Wireless Jamaica Limited, valued at $2 million.

A statement from the police said the dealer purchased the cable wire for $32,000.

Mr. Samuda said the notice became effective on June 2, 2008 and requires that the dealer cease and desist all dealings in scrap metal.

He said that under the Regulations, the dealer could apply in writing for the matter to be heard within 14 days of the effective date of the notice.
