Telstar Cable expands zones

The Information ministry has given approval for Telstar Cable Limited to expand its service to 11 additional cable zones in Kingston and St. Andrew.
Telstar will now serve the Corporate Area communities of Mona, Hope Pastures, Washington Gardens, Patrick City, Beverly Hills, Swallowfield, Cross Roads, Vineyard Town, Riverton City, New Haven, and Duhaney Park.
Telstar is serving a total of 21 zones making it the second largest cable provider in Jamaica in terms of service area.
The Broadcasting Commission has ordered FLOW to discontinue broadcasting local advertisements on foreign cable channels.
The Commission said it received reports last weekend, that advertisements for Jamaican businesses were inserted into commercial breaks on popular non-Jamaican channels on the subscriber television service.
It said Ms. Grange has re-affirmed that substituted advertising is not allowed under the current provisions in the law and is not being contemplated by government.
