Discovery Bay post office closed

The Discovery Bay post office in St. Ann will remain closed today following a robbery yesterday.



Staff members at the post office who were reportedly shaken up by the incident have been given the day off to regain their composure.



Reports are that two gunmen held up and robbed the post office and escaped with an undetermined sum of money.



The incident, which took place shortly after 2 p.m. yesterday, is the fifth robbery in the parish in only two weeks.



The two men, one of whom pretended to be a customer, while the other entered through the back door, surprised the staff of the post office.



The gunmen forced the four members of staff inside the post office vault.



It is alleged that they then proceeded to remove cash from a paymaster outlet on the building after relieving the staff of their cell phones.
