Impersonator killed
The police have revealed that the man who was shot dead in Downtown Kingtston today by lawmen was an impersonator.
There were initial reports that the man may have been a member of the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF).
The police reported that members of the Island Special Constabulary Force were on foot patrol in Downtown Kingston this afternoon when the man was seen acting suspiciously.
The policemen accosted him and requested a search of his person but he reportedly ran down King Street.
The police report that they gave chase and the man pulled a gun and fired at them.
The police say they returned the fire and the man was hit.
A nine-millimetre rifle and 15 rounds of ammunition were allegedly taken from the man.
It’s reported that they also recovered a passport bearing the name George Knight.
The police also reported that they went to the man’s house at Price Lane in Downtown Kingston where they found two more passports bearing the same name, and a police cap.
