Water system reopened
The St. Ann Health Department announced that the Faith’s Pen Water supply is now safe for public consumption.
The Department said it has made improvements to what it says was the poor water quality.
Last week, the health Department issued a warning against the use of the water from the system for preparing meals.
According to the Health Department it issued the warning for fear that the water could make consumers seriously ill.
Despite reopening the supply for public consumption, Chief public Health inspector for St. Ann, Granville Mckenzie is expressing concerns about the state of other water supply systems operated by the parish council.
Mr. McKenzie said of the 77 water supply systems operated by the council, only seven are in a satisfactory state.
He said the Health Department is willing to assist the Parish council improve its systems in the shortest possible time.
