The team spearheading the privatisation of the Sugar Company of Jamaica (SCJ) is scheduled to meet today to hold last minute discussions on the divestment.
Prime Minister, Bruce Golding said the negotiating team will be trying to resolve several issues by tomorrow in a bid to meet the divestment deadline.
The deadline set by the government is June 30.
Mr. Golding said if an agreement is reached he intends to begin the process of transferring the SCJ’s assets to the new entity on July 1.
He said the deadline must be met if the 2008/2009 crop is to be secured.
