As of July 1, Jamaicans are to benefit from an increase in the amount of their salaries that will not attract income tax.
The Tax administration Services Department said the income tax threshold would move from the current tax free amount of $193,440 to $200,304.
This means that persons should now benefit from a tax free income of $16,692.
Director of Public Relations, Meris Haughton, said the income tax threshold will again be increased in January next year, in keeping with the measures announced in the 2008/2009 budget.
