MP reassures residents

The Member of Parliament for North West St. Ann, Othniel Lawrence has sought to reassure residents of Orange Hill in Brown’s Town of an impartial investigation into yesterday’s killing of a resident of the community.



36 year old electrician Osbourne Smith was killed by the police yesterday, during what the police say was an operation in search of a wanted man.



The police said Smith was killed after he tried to disarm a member of the police team.



However, angry residents who mounted several roadblocks said Smith was killed in cold blood inside his bathroom.



Mr. Lawrence said while the security forces must carry out their duty, care must be given to eliminate the possibility of innocent lives being taken.



The incident occurred during a pre -dawn raid led by Operation Kingfish in Orange Hill.



Glenroy ‘Parrie’ Litchmore, who was linked to the May 23 shooting death of constables Cornell Grant and Delano Lawrence of the Western Kingston police division, was held.
