The State Minister in the National Security Ministry, Senator Arthur Williams is again calling for legislation to prevent motorists from driving in heavily tinted vehicles.

Senator Williams said the dark tinting of vehicles contributes to the level of crime in the society.

He also said members of the security forces are at risk because of the practice.

The Executive Director of the National Road Safety Council, Paula Fletcher, said the new Road Safety Act would make dark tints illegal.

She said the Act will also regulate safety standards for tires, the use of cell phones while driving and permit a ticketing system for careless and reckless driving.

Mrs. Fletcher said while the final draft has still not gone before Cabinet, the legislation should be completed by month end.
