Traffic conference begins
Traffic authorities will today be examining ways to reduce road fatalities as the second All Island Traffic Conference gets underway.
The conference will examine the issues affecting the Island’s Traffic Division and identify best practices in an effort to reduce the carnage on the roadways.
Head of the Traffic Division, Superintendent Fred Hibbert, said the conference would bring together a number of stakeholder groups.
These will include all the different Police officers from Traffic and Highway patrols, members from the National Road Safety Council, National Works Agency and the Traffic Authority.
Superintendent Hibbert said the conference would take the form of presentations and discussions from experts in the field.
Among the issues to be discussed are how breath analysing can make the system more efficient and how fatal accidents can be dealt with more professionally.
Superintend Hibbert adds that he is hoping the conference will boost professionalism among officers.
He said less road fatalities would result in more funds being available for education, the health sector and other areas in society.
