No family for dead Jamaican
Officials in St. Maarten say no one has come forward to claim the body of a Jamaican man which was found in the Dutch Quarter on Tuesday.
The man, identified only as Joe, was reportedly found at the entrance to his house by neighbours about 6 a.m.
The St. Maarten police had earlier reported that they found documents in the man’s house, which indicated that he was a Jamaican.
They say no one has shown an interest in identifying the body, which is still at the morgue.
The police believe Joe was an illegal immigrant and that no family member or friend have come forward because of his/her illegal status in the country.
The Dutch Quarter is considered to be a troubled community and popularly known as a shelter for persons who are seeking illegal refuge.
Meanwhile, investigators say they are following strong leads in a bid to solve the murder.
