The Consumer Affairs Commission (CAC) says its 2008 Textbook survey has revealed that most textbooks prices have not been increased by more than 15 percent.
Director of Research at the CAC Hugh Taylor, says this was good news for parents.
He says raw data reflect a conscious effort on the book industry to hold strain, in light of rising food and oil prices.
The survey, which was conducted between July 28 and 31, interviewed representatives of 63 bookstores across Jamaica.
The CAC says books on the rental scheme and primary textbooks which are provided free by the Ministry of Education were excluded from the survey.
